Playing this game 5 times alone in the second darkest time of my life and the fallout afterwards allowed me to see the game for the insane complexity and emotional intelligence it portrayed. Beautiful game. Beautiful message. Beautiful characters. Human characters. I can barely stand the people that blatantly shit on this game due to their lack of empathy, maturity, bias, outlook on life- whatever it is. They think their opinions completely overtake anything the game has to offer to the player in theme and meaning. In the end, it’s whatever though… They’re human just like me and their opinions are valid… even though they’re seemingly nonsensical idiotic…

Ellie already is confused about what her life means to her and everyone and only seeing people die or leave her in the first game , Ellie in second game tells joel she should of died then her life would of fucking mattered but in face her life already did to joel even though she only knew of his promise not knowing what was said by marlene before he killed everyone and joel did not tell her at all, which marlene didnt care about Ellie, she had to n convice Ellie that she had to bc of all the fireflies they lost marlene saying it has to mean for nothing . The first game if u listen to just the story and then tlou part two just the story , its more deep than u think❤

Here’s how I got into the last of us It was Black Friday 2014 at this point I’ve been saving up forever for a ps4 So I had my mom take me to target I had my buddy with me I got the ps4 that Black Friday it was a bundle that came with gta v on disc and a digital version of the last of us remastered at this point the last of us on ps3 flew under my radar so I never heard of it my friend who I was with was a major xbox player so I get home set up the ps4 and I say I wonder what the last of us is about and he goes you’ve never heard of it? And I go no and he’s like dude u Godda play it me and my other friend finished it on the ps3 its such a amazing game I stayed up all night playing it and omg I remember crying over Sarah dying to this day that scene gets to me every time I replay it but its a master piece ever sense then the last of us is one of my favorite games Now I still own that same ps4 and play part 1 on pc I did play part 2 on launch and I love that one a lil less than the 1st one I love this game series so much I own every single poster they put out But part 1 & 2 will always have a special place in my heart That’s my the last of us story

I do not condone going after the voice actors or developers however my reason why I have mixed feelings about this game is because yes they killed off a beloved character that’s one, two they introduced characters that didn’t make any sense nor did we see where they came from and forced us to play with them and try to appreciate them, three the last of us part two seemed to be a sequel based off of killing an npc, the dr in part one didn’t have much to the story, would’ve made sense if it was Marlene’s daughter or son if she had any come after Joel, but an npc we saw for one second that made no sense to me, the game was brutal, beautiful interns of graphics and gameplay but I just didn’t appreciate the direction of it.

You talk about Abby’s perspective and that Joel killed her dad so that’s why she seeks revenge. Let’s also talk about how he is going to unalive an innocent girl just to make a cure that won’t be much use 20 years after the outbreak since the world has been completely destroyed. Plus Joel did save Abby’s life so she could have spared him. So when you think about it Abby is still the monster no matter whose perspective you look at.

I mean you have to understand its kind of disrespectful to kill Joel the way they did, Then after have to play as the character who killed joel. No one and im sure no one felt for abby. I know a ton of people who stopped playing the game as soon as they realised they had to play as abby. The story was poor and really badly set out. Joel let his guard down which he never used to do. They should have either made Abbys story its own separate game or a spinoff before TLOU2. This game was just a shit show. Trying to build a connection with Abby was non existent.

People creating tribes and hating on each other is the ultimate irony about this game. It taught so many of us to see the dangers of tribalism and want to end the cycle of hatred, yet there is so much of that hatred surrounding this work. It makes me wonder how many of those who despise the game, just couldn't get over their own tribalistic biases.

Why do some people hate Ellie...? I never hated Ellie throughout the game...and please if you think we had to kill a lot of people while playing as her....than why are you even playing a video game. Joel killed so many, Abby killed so many...so did Ellie. Let's not even talk about killing random Scars or WLF's, Rattlers random NPC's whatever...let's talk about the highlighted characters..Ellie killed Jordan because he was about to kill Dina. Ellie killed Mel and Owen in self defense. Those two were such fools that none of them bothered screaming and saying that Mel is pregnant. Only after killing Mel Ellie saw that she was pregnant and Ellie was traumatized because of that. She killed Whitney in self defense. And Nora that biggest bi*ch she was anyways dying because she breathed spores. You'll didn't notice or what that Tommy Ellie and Jesse at last decided to go back to Jackson..it was shown they were looking at the map and deciding to take the best route for their home return until Abby showed up..even after Jesse was killed and Tommy badly injured they returned back and Ellie and Dina started living in the farm ...and only after Tommy pressuried Ellie she went again for the revenge...and at last it was Ellie's own decision to spare Abby...if she would have not gone Santa Barbara Abby and Lev would have died. She spared them because of her own morals and Abby spared Ellie and Dina because of Lev...that's the difference...Abby was ok killing Dina knowing she is pregnant and Ellie killed Mel unknowingly...that's the diffrence...even when Abby brutaly killed Joel it was more of Owen's decision to spare Ellie and Tommy. So stop saying that Ellie changed and she became a bad person...and you people who say Ellie became a bad person are the same people who got angry when she spared Abby...I mean how stupid you'll are.Ellie is the protganist and she is even more important than Joel in the game. The story is all about Ellie...that immune girl. Even the first part was all about Ellie being taken to the fireflies. Anna brought her into the world with so much difficulty and she dies and her responsibilty is shifted to Marlene who eventually had to kill Anna because she got infected...then when at last Marlene also fails she is killed by Joel and now Joel takes care of her and then Abby kills Joel...Mark my words now it will be Abby who will play a positive role in Ellie's life. The way she went against her own team WLF to save her enemies which were seraphites...the same way she will go against her former team fireflies to save her enemy Ellie. And at last we may see Ellie herself sacrificing her life for the cure...or something can happen that she becomes the cure and still doesn't die...and Abby is dying for sure and then Ellie if she lives she might take care of both JJ and Lev

Joel and Abby are similar in many ways, and if you boil it down, you can make a semi-reasonable argument for them both being sociopaths in their own right. Problem is, Joel has been given many reasons to be one; he's been through decades of trauma, we've _seen_ and _experienced_ the loss of his real daughter with him as well as his rekindling of that fatherly love for Ellie in real time, we witnessed that character development and grew to value it. Meanwhile, Abby may have similar experiences, but we've seen barely any of it and were given almost no time to digest it or even grow to care for her before the game threw the whole "Abby kills Joel" thing in our faces... It does it almost _immediately_ and then tells the player, _"Okay, now that might seem bad, but here, try to care for this character please"_ when that bridge has already been burned for most people. If we weren't outright _playing_ as Abby, that by itself would've been a hilariously good hook for the player to absolutely despise an antagonist or villain... So, no surprises that it doesn't make for a good 'protagonist' hook. And, like many other comments have already said, Abby is often times just downright cruel and contradictory even _with her own friends,_ let alone with the morals she claims to uphold... Aside from very superficial traits, there's not much to really like about her from the get-go, even if the game tries to show us her better sides later on. So... Yeah. The quote, _"You're a piece of shit, Abby."_ is about as accurate as it gets. That's her character. There might be more nuance to it, but we don't get to see nearly enough of it to justify her shitty behavior and selfish personality. If we had an entire game, let alone two, beforehand to show her development into this kind of character, then we might more easily empathize with her and even come to understand her reasons, but as it is, it all just sounds like excuses. She's killed people before, just like Ellie, but it's only ever a problem when the people _she cares about_ die, to the point of becoming obsessed on revenge. Meanwhile, Ellie, Joel and Tommy have all lost countless people in their lives and, while they're all still opportunists, _most of the time_ their concern is survival - not revenge for revenge's sake. Like the video says, even; despite everything, even for as abrasive as she is and how she's often times just downright an asshole, if the game gave her more time to introduce herself to us and gave us more experiences with her to justify her personality, I guarantee most players would not only understand her being this way but come to outright really like her too - I can literally see it, in my head, how just shuffling around the events in game a bit might even change Joel's death from an outrageous event to a legitimate, widely-agreed-upon, unavoidable tragedy. I get why _some_ people enjoy her character for being flawed, but having flaws is not in and of itself enough of a reason for me to applaud a character and care for them. Abby is wasted potential, both as a character written into a story and also just as a person in-world.

I personally am not a fan of last of us 2 but fuck me, i thought the cast did fine despite ehat i thought of the story. Death threats because of a voice star's role in the story is fucking gross. Lmfao when these same people find out the plot twist in silent hill 2 later this year; James' actor will have to go into a protection program of some kind haha

I find it so funny everyone is just defending ellie, remeber this, joel doomed humanity for ever because of a selfish act, killed 90 percent of the firefly include abby's father, abby came back and got her revenger, spared tommy and ellie when she could have just finished them off too, tommy and ellie, dina and jesse all came back, killed all of abby's family and friends including the pregnant mel and alice (abby's dog), abby spared her AGAIN, ellie came back AGAIN, and initiated a fight with abby by threatening to kill a child, and the fight wasnt even fair.

This is for the haters people hate it because Joel is killed and we have to play as Abby. I am sorry for those people who can't accept death...because of Joel's death the story was so impactful. What did you expect another Joel and Ellie adventure trip in part 2.. Have you not seen your favorite character dying in movies? There also you have made such a fuss about it or what? So those people who can't accept it let me tell you because you are too weak to handle deaths or sorrows in your actual life. And if you don't understand Abby's action then you are somebody who doesn't understand your enemies perspective. Too bad. I think a big part of why people hate Abby, outside of being a muscular lady, is that her introduction is, after Joel and Tommy save her and her friends from the zombies, she shoots Joel in the leg with a shotgun and then proceeds to brutally beat Joel to death with a golf club in front of his family as they plead for her to stop. That already put her far into the irredeemable zone in a lot of people's eyes and it didn't help that the theater climax shows her shooting Tommy and killing Jesse then cuts to having us play as her. It just makes Abby look even more like a monster and makes the Abby segment feel like the writers are trying to sell us on her virtues when the past 10-ish hours were us stewing in our hatred of her then that sudden reinforcement with the theater confrontation of why she needs to die in Ellie's view. It made the whole thing fall flat, in my opinion

I believe it's worth noting that the elderly Seraphite who surrendered and asked Owen to kill him is meant to parallel Joel. This man, unable to take a life, evokes memories of Abby killing Joel-an older man who, not fighting back, was so hopeless and tired that he resigned himself to a brutal death.

The first game was about Joel rediscovering his humanity. The second one was about Abby discovering hers. Will part 3 do the same for Ellie, who has now lost hers?

The Last Of Us Part II is definitely the best game ever made!

I went to Xbox two years ago because I could not get ahold of a PS5. I returned to PlayStation 3 weeks ago because I missed the Uncharted series and Bloodborne so much. I bought uncharted on a whim and I fell in love with the characters. They feel like real people and they change as the story arc progress throughout the games. I think it's a testament to Naughty Dog's craft as game designers and Nolan North's performance as Drake that these games are as popular as ever. If you want an excuse to buy a PS5, these games should be enough
